May Case of the Month

The wines in the May Case of the Month are:

Château de Lamarque

The roundness of Merlot and firmness of Cabernet come together perfectly with a touch of spice and grip from Petit Verdot. Beautiful red and black berries on the nose. Pair with roast or Portobello burgers.

Le Monde Pinot Grigio Ramato

This is not a rosé, but a white wine with a touch of extra colour and texture from contact with the skins of the Pinot Grigio grapes. Floral on the nose with white peach and cantaloupe on the palate. Try with grilled mackerel.

San Filippo ‘Le Coste’ Rosé

A dark, rich, and complex rosé from one of our new favorite Montalcino producers. Notes of Amarena cherry and ripe raspberry. This dry rosé will pair excellently with pasta salad.

Eric Texier Brézème

Vivid, bright, and focused, this Syrah is miles away from the plodding, unbalanced reds that are all too common in the Rhône Valley. Bold black cherry and plum nose with a peppery midpalate and mineral-driven finish.

Château Brande-Bergère

This Bordeaux is full-bodied with notes of Morello cherry, strawberry, and toasted spice. An elegant blend of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, and Merlot. Excellent value.

Monteversa ‘Primavera’ Moscato Frizzante

This dry Moscato from Monteversa is a modern wine with a foot firmly planted in traditional methods. The wine finishes its fermentation in the bottle, and is unfiltered, thereby leaving natural lees sediment behind. Dry, with bright acidity, and fresh orange blossom and tropical flavours, this sparkling wine is sure to surprise.

San Filippo Rosso di Montalcino

Fresh and intense nose. Cherry and spice notes are backed up with a full body and silky tannins. Long finish. Try with margherita pizza.

Domaine Cordier Mâcon ‘Aux Bois d’Allier’

Full bodied with intense golden apple and ripe pear notes. Lively and long finish; well-integrated and balanced oak. This Chardonnay will pair excellently with herb-roasted chicken or roast pork.

Altitudes Côtes du Roussillon

Blend of Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah from shale and limestone soils in Roussillon, just 25 miles north of Spain. Blackcurrant, blackberry, and liquorice notes. Matured in stainless steel tanks to retain the fresh fruit flavours.

Colognole Chianti Rufina Riserva

Red berry fruit along with an elegant floral rose character. Black pepper on the palate leads into a full, dry, body with supple tannin character and smoky oak finish.

Terres de Molines Sauvignon Blanc

Acclaimed winemaker Michel Gassier makes this easy-drinking Sauvignon Blanc in the warm French region of Costières de Nîmes. Peachy and round in the mouth with a zesty lime finish. Best served well-chilled on a patio.

Volpe Ribolla Gialla

Excellent as an aperitif, with white fish, or crustaceans. Notes of elderflower and white peach with a rich and textured body. A lovely wine from Ribolla Gialla, which is seeing an international resurgence of interest in this Northern Italy grape.
