The wines in the August Case of the Month are:
Champagne Baron-Fuente Reserve Brut
Fresh melon, orange and peach on the fruity nose and in the mouth. Supple and broad on the palate, showing a hint of warmth on the back half. In an easygoing style, finishing with good length.
Summer Water Rosé
It’s the last month of summer, so we’re sending it off with two bottles of rosé. This one is dry, light and perfectly crisp — with notes of strawberry, pink grapefruit and white peach.
Ferdinand Albariño Can
A floral wine with orange peel and lime zest, lemongrass, quince and grapefruit aromas. Lees aging in neutral oak gives the wine finesse, sophistication, and a hint of nuttiness – a pleasing complement to the variety’s balance of natural acidity, slight bitterness, and salty finish.
Il Poggione Vermentino Chardonnay
On the nose, flowers and tropical fruits. On the palate, dry, fresh with mineral notes. Harmonizes well with white meats and fish.
Suriol Negre Seleccio
The Suriol family has lived and made wine in Penedés since the 15th century. This red is made with Ull de Llebre (the local clone of Tempranillo), Cariñena, and Garnacha. Beautiful rich texture with black plum and dark berry notes.
Pirramimma Petit Verdot
Lifted bouquet of Kirsch cherries, violets and boysenberry. Palate exhibits spicy blackberry, musk, tangy morello cherry and Santa Rosa plum, complemented by hints of blueberry and Kalamata olive. Fine tannins, subtle oak and savory varietal flavors are beautifully integrated in a long sustained finish.
Montfaucon Baron Louis
Notes of pretty black raspberry, spice and floral aromatics, medium-bodied richness and an overall elegant, polished and layered style.
Château Les Vieux Ormes
A delicious blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. supple, charming, and ready to drink or cellar for a few years. Blueberry, blackberry notes over a backbone of warm earth.
Nikolaihof “Hefeabzug” Grüner Veltliner
Hefeabzug means aged on the lees. This is Grüner Veltliner as Muscadet - with crisp, salty minerality, just with bigger bones, and more spice. Notes of sea shells, green sour skittles, and wet sand clad with serious acidity that will brighten up the back of your palate.
William Cole Columbine Carménère
The nose reveals notes of white pepper and mature red fruits perfectly complementing light touches of vanilla from oak ageing. Very juicy and soft on the palate with sweet tannins, good acidity and medium to long finish.
The Pinson family has been in Chablis long enough there is a street named after them. Pronounced nose, stone fruit that is supported by a touch of oak. Elegant with depth of fruit and a long finish.
Cave de Rasteau Rosé “Le Pas du Meunier”
Cherry, wild strawberry and white fruit aromas with a touch of tarragon, a rich and ripe whole with a slight peppery finish.
